A very small percentage of SA athletes who want to attend an American college on scholarship ever actually get the opportunity to do so. This is usually not because of your lack of ability but because of your lack of being able to navigate the college recruiting process.
Many college sports programs have more international players than they have American players. SA athletes who are enrolled in the National Scouting Report program in tennis, golf, swimming, soccer, track and several other sports are generally considered superior to American athletes and therefore most colleges are eager to recruit them.
You must be registered with the NCAA clearinghouse before you are eligible for a scholarship to an American university. Your NSR representative will explain this requirement to you and see that you get registered, if you are not already registered.
If you play or have played on a club team you must provide written proof that you are an amateur rather than a professional. Otherwise, you will not be able to participate in athletics at an American college.
SA club coaches and freelance athletic scouts have very little influence with American colleges. Furthermore, if you pay a coach, freelance scout, or anyone else to get you a scholarship then you will be ineligible for college sports in America . This is strictly against the rules and will cause you to lose any opportunity for a scholarship. You should enroll with NSR of SA. We are the professionals. We are paid to promote you to all the colleges but we do not get a fee for getting you a scholarship.
Many colleges won't recruit SA athletes simply because of the difficulty of getting them into the country. This has become a major problem since 9/11 because of the stricter immigration and student visa regulations. Students enrolled with NSR are able to cut through much of this red tape because of our assistance.
If you want to receive a scholarship to an American university you must enroll with NSR of SA early and not wait until you're almost ready to start college. You should enroll two or three years in advance – or earlier. Otherwise your chances for a scholarship are greatly reduced.
By enrolling with NSR of SA your chances for a scholarship offer to an American college could be 30 to 50 times greater than they would be if you were not enrolled. NSR makes monthly contact with approximately 20,000 college coaches. Many of these coaches are calling us everyday requesting information on prospects.
